Traditionally, access control cards were simple proprietary devices. With the advent of multi-application proximity smart cards, interoperability and multi-sourcing became an issue. Our proximity smart cards are better; they are compatible to the ISO/IEC 14443 standard.

What this means is that the systems are no longer proprietary. Provided you are given the keys to the cards, you can buy readers from one source and cards from another.
